"Just as I have loved you, you should also love one another"

Prayers for the Liturgical year

Advent

Our heavenly Father, as once again we prepare for Christmas,
help us to find time in our busy lives for quiet and thought and prayer:
that we may reflect upon the wonder of your love and allow the
story of the Saviour's birth to penetrate our hearts and minds.
So may our joy be deeper, our worship more real, and our lives worthier
of all that you have done for us through the coming of
your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Christmas

O God, we thank you for the message of peace that Christmas
brings to our distracted world. Give peace among nations,
peace in our land, peace in our homes, and peace in our hearts,
as we remember the birth at Bethlehem of the Prince of peace,
Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Christmas Blessing

May the humility of the shepherds,
the perseverance of the wise men,
the joy of the angels,
and the peace of the Christ-child
be God's gifts to us and to people everywhere this Christmas time.
And may the blessing of the Christ-child be upon us always.

Amen.

The promise of His Glory

Lent

Lord, in these days of mercy, make us quiet and prayerful;
In these days of challenge, make us stronger in you;
In these days of emptiness, take possession of us;
In these days of waiting, open our hearts to the mystery of your cross.

Amen.

Easter

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
By his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope,
through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead,
and into an inheritance which cannot perish or be defiled,
nor can it ever fade.
So let us rejoice!

Amen.

Traditional

Pentecost

God of power,
may the boldness of your Spirit transform us,
may the gentleness of your Sprit lead us,
may the gifts of your Spirit
be our goal and our strength
now and always.

Amen.
