"Just as I have loved you, you should also love one another"

Mission ACT1V8

MISSION ACT1V8

If the vision of the Archdiocese of Hobart through the work of Catholic Youth Ministry and all Tasmanian parishioners is:

"To reinvigorate the young Church of Tasmania to build towards a future Church with a vibrant, integrated and involved youth culture"...

...then we need activation and a sense of mission!

WYD08 gives us a nudge to activate now. The goal of a future Church with a vibrant, integrated and involved youth culture gives us a sense of mission. Now is a unique and opportune time for our Church to enliven and re-fresh.

As Pilgrims and in the spirit of community the Archdiocese of Hobart will journey to World Youth Day 2008 and beyond.

United and focussed, involving every Parish, discovering and developing the gifts of many, faithfully living the spirit of pilgrimage and hospitality and being aware of and open to the work of the Holy Spirit - together, we will make the message of the Gospel alive in our Archdiocese now, in 2008 and in the future.

"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses".

Acts1v8

Many efforts made in the next couple of years will be especially for WYD08 but in everything we do, we need to be asking ourselves what our aim is and be thinking about our mission and goals past WYD08.

Every Parish in the Archdiocese of Hobart has been invited to form a Mission ACT1V8 team. Their role is to take on the various projects that WYD08 offers us, such as Days in the Dioceses and any other youth ministry projects they can within the Parish.... but to take them on with the constant questions... "How will this help us achieve our mission? How can we enhance this project to make sure it lasts longer than until WYD08? How can we do this better so that it will really help our young people on their faith journey?"

The Mission ACT1V8 core team represents the whole Archdiocese and works together to work out the best ways to support the Parish teams, to produce and provide resources, and to coordinate projects that are on a State-wide level.

"Our Youth Ministry team needs the active support, encouragement and prayers of every Tasmanian Catholic if we are to maximise the potential of World Youth Day 2008 to reinvigorate the young Church of Tasmania and engage all young Catholics in the daily life of the Church."
